The emphasis in gameplay is on using the resources available to either side to accomplish goals rather than solely using manpower to do so.įor example, the British utilize their masses of man power to attack the German forces using aircraft, amphibious assault vehicles, tanks, troops, and guns while the Germans use their aircraft, tanks, airplanes, and guns to do the same. Players take control of one of each of these sides and use both offensive and defensive tactics to score points and ultimately defeat the opposing forces. In this game, players take on the roll of both the British Royal Air Force and the German Luftwaffe in an effort to stop the enemy from crossing the English Channel. A sequel to Battlefield 1943, titled Battlefield 1942: Heroes of the Flag, was eventually released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The game was released for the consoles Xbox, PlayStation 2, Game Cube and Nintendo Wii. It can also be downloaded for free from DICE's official website. The game can also be played in single-player offline mode or in online multiplayer mode against computer-simulated opponents on the Internet or on a LAN network.
